Sheila Walker

Sheila received her Associate’s degree in Merchandising and Management at Berkeley School of Westchester in 1982 and her Bachelor’s at Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus in 1984.

Sheila started her banking career in 1984 as a teller for Central Federal Bank, East Rockaway NY. Working her way through the ranks she was promoted to Assistant Branch Manager in 1989 at the Elmont branch of Home Savings/GreenPoint Bank and in 1999. She was offered and accepted as Branch Manager and Assistant Vice President at the Far Rockaway branch of GreenPoint Bank. In 2002 she accepted the Branch Manager, Vice President, position in Deer Park, Long Island, where she opened a brand-new retail/commercial branch. After the merger of GreenPoint Bank and Northfork Bank, Sheila was offered a position with Bank of New York, Hicksville. Within one year Sheila was asked if she would assist in fixing a declining branch in Island Park. In 2007 Bank of New York was acquired by Chase a JPMorgan subsidiary. Sheila stayed with JP Morgan Chase in the role of Branch Manager, and Vice President at the Island Park branch of Chase for 10 years and decided to make a slight career change. Sheila joined NYLIFE Securities LLC as a Financial Services Professional. Sheila helped many with their retirement needs and wealth management services, but her heart was still in the banking arena. Sheila was offered a cluster branch management position with Roslyn Savings Bank, a division of New York Community Bank in 2017 which now operates under the name of Flagstar.

She is the recipient of the 2001 Black Achievers in Industry Award (YMCA), the Island Park Chamber of Commerce Businessperson of the Year Award, 2009, and the Chase Top Manager Achievement and Productivity Award, 2013.
